The Reading Room is a series of reading groups revolving around short texts provided by invited guests – contemporary artists, cultural theorists, philosophers and researchers – who join us to provide insight, context and perspective on the topics at hand. The Reading Room is a joint cooperation between the artist-initiatives Platform for Thoughts in Motion and iii. It is curated by Sissel Marie Tonn, Jonathan Reus and Flora Reznik. It was hosted at GEMAK in 2015 and is hosted at Stroom Den Haag since 2016.

‘In the Reading Room I was able to discuss in person some topics I am very interested in but had no possibility to in my academic environment. It’s a real privilege to be able to talk with acclaimed authors in the field, to ask questions directly. The selection of guests has been great and the small group format allows for intimate discussions. Reading Room platform filled in a gap I felt studying at a music school, that is to be able to discuss contemporary cultural, philosophical theory. It has also served as a platform for building a social network in the city, discussions carried on outside the Reading Room itself.’
