Friday 29th of May 19.00 – 23.00
Studio Loos, De Constant Rebequeplein 20B, The Hague
During Hoogtij #41 Attila Faravelli will present his series of artist multiples called Aural Tools. Aural Tools uses editions of simple objects to document the material and conceptual processes of specific musicians’ sound production practice. It is a series of acoustic devices for relating sound to space, the listener, and the body in ways unavailable through traditional recorded media such as CDs or LPs.
All three Aural Tools will be presented:
Aural Tool #1 Trifoglio is an ongoing project based on a tactile middle/side speaker designed by Attila Faravelli. The device plays music created specifically for it. In this presentation new compositions made for Trifoglio by the participants of the workshop on 23 May will be played.
Aural Tool #2 Freie Aerophone is a set of bullroarers, developed together with Matija Schellander and based on his solo pieces for double bass that make extensive use of indistinct low pitches resonating a space and sound projections by circular movement of the performer with the instrument.
Aural Tool #3 Bilia is a set of wooden balls (3,5 cm Ø) carved from different woods. Developed together with Enrico Malatesta it derives from his horizontal approach to the percussion instruments
The presentation is offered as part of the guest residency program hosted by iii in cooperation with Studio Loos and Satellietgroep at the DCR, with financial support from Stroom Den Haag and the Creative Industries Fund NL.
