GOLF Festival is a three-day festival in Haarlem with performances, installation art, and lectures on the interaction between image and sound. GOLF is organized by 37PK, Platform voor Kunsten, Nieuwe Vide and Pletterij in collaboration with the Hague artists’ initiative Quartair. The festival takes place on three evenings; Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December 2019 at three locations in Haarlem: 37PK, Pletterij, and Nieuwe Vide, where each location offers a program that is focused on its character.
In current society, sound and image are present everywhere, both in daily life and in contemporary art. But in what ways can visual art and music merge together in a meaningful way? What happens when performers from the two different disciplines join forces? To what extent does image translate itself to sound and vice versa? During GOLF-festival, contemporary artists, composers, musicians, performers, designers, international names and up-and-coming talent come together in a diverse program and show experimental work in the form of performances, installations, and lectures.
The ambition of GOLF-festival in Haarlem is to offer space for challenging, experimental audiovisual art, and through artistic approach, investigating the relationship between visual art and music, between visual and auditory perception.
