V2_, RotterdamAs part of TEC ART, Philip Vermeulen will be presenting The Physical Rhythm Machine Boem BOem throughout the festival.
Philip Vermeulen’s The Physical Rhythm Machine consists of two powerful machines balls at speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour firing from loudspeakers. The machine shoots the balls fourteen meters through the air, ricochets off two boards, catches, and shoots them again. The installation is not only an impressive performance, but also an acoustic instrument. The balls are fired in different compositions on the loudspeakers, composed in an interplay between Vermeulen and algorithmic non-metrical rhythms of the machine.
Philip Vermeulen is a young emerging artist from The Hague. He developed The Physical Rhythm Machine during V2_’s SummerSessions residency program .
