As part of Yoeri Guépin’s residency at iii, he will facilitate the collective creation of a public community garden at the iii workspace. This garden will be created using plant-related stories, seeds, recipes and memories collected from the neighbourhood surrounding Willem Dreespark.
Those working and living in and around the building, and those who are just interested in learning about gardening are invited to be part of this process.
In the last session, the garden will be open to the public, involving a dinner/celebration where we exchange food, recipe’s stories and experiences.
About Yoeri Guépin
Yoeri Guépin is an artist, researcher and gardener based in Rotterdam. Past projects involve working with archives and collections in (botanical) gardens, museums and scientific institutes. Working without any fixed medium, most of his works materialize in a performative setting involving elements of film, text and objects.
His recent projects depart from his knowledge and experience in gardening in combination with his interest in cultural histories and ecosystems. This has resulted in an array of ecological projects and often in the creation of gardens that act as a vessel and as an entrance to marginal (hi)stories and nonwestern epistemologies.
