On a windy day in July Pia Louwerens from Jegens & Tevens, a platform for and by artists from The Hague, visited Pedalling SeaSides.
She wrote about the experience:
“In eerste instantie doet het fietsen met een Sonic Bike denken aan het simpele fietsen met muziek: je krijgt het heerlijke gevoel dat je in een film speelt, en dat iemand eindelijk de soundtrack heeft aangezet. (…) Steeds werken de geluiden op een gevoel van suspense of narratief die helemaal niet aanwezig is, wat het live-film syndroom versterkt. Het maakt nieuwsgierig naar de aanknopingspunten en associaties die Matthews in de duinen vond tijdens haar residency.”
“At first glance the experience reminds you of the simple pleasure of biking with music: it feels as if you are in a movie and someone finally added the soundtrack. (…) Again and again the sounds call forth a sense of suspense or narrative that are not there in reality, which strengthens the live film syndrom. It makes you curious for the reference points and associations Kaffe Matthews found in the dunes during her residency.”
