Philip Vermeulen Reviewed on Metropolis M

Philip Vermeulen‘s 10 meters of sound was recently acquired by Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede. The installation was reviewed in Metropolis M.

“Finally, Philip Vermeulen’s hall deserves a special mention. The large installation of 10 Meters of Sound (2014-2018) has been purchased from him: four elastic cables, each ten meters long, which turn into dizzying patterns. He has, as said, the theme ‘Play and restrain’, and combines his installation with both minimalistic, abstract art and the optical illusions of François Morellet. That choice also says a lot about Vermeulen’s own installation: playful, agile, but that would not have been possible without creating a specific framework – specific rules.”
