“Computer music will Eat itself” is a series of free improvisation performances responding to and sonifying operations of the artist’s laptop (a 2011 Macbook Pro, with various software and hardware malfunctions).
Hand-held electromagnetic sensors are used to transduce the electromagnetic murmurs of the laptop computer into sound. The sounds are sampled and re-sampled by the performer, using software running on the computer. An array of incandescent bulbs translates the attempts at musical gestures and electromagnetic byproducts of the laptop as a patchwork of flickering light.
