Sparkfield #1 is an audio-visual installation which explores light and sound as a tangible and archaic form. Multiple conductive materials like aluminum, steel and magnesium are rhythmically short-circuited and burned by several kinetic sculptures. The sculptures – made from custom build loudspeakers- produce movement, sound and light simultaneously. As the loudspeakers make sound, charged materials move and produce sparks in synch with the movement and sound of the speaker. The color, form and brightness of the sparks are determined by the combination of different materials used in each sculpture.
